Welcome to Carolina Outdoor Recreation!

Carolina Outdoor Recreation’s (“COR”) mission is to facilitate the creation of a deeper understanding of self, others, and the natural world surrounding our patrons. Since 1995, COR has offered programs to UNC students as one of the 11 American university centers with AEE accreditation.  While COR is located on the UNC campus, it strives to serve both UNC  students as well as the Triangle Community’s residents and businesses by delivering a balance of personal safety, emotional care, and experience adventure.

COR’s diverse programs allows its participants to experience personal, group, outdoor, and community discovery while striving for individual empowerment, meaningful reflection, mutual respect, trust, and team building. Whether it is through kayaking, rope climbing, or zip lining, COR uses these activities to help its patrons reach their goals of developing one’s sense of self, leadership, and adventure.

One of the prime examples of how COR can help facilitate personal growth are our expedition trips. The trips allow groups to function as a self-reliant community. While instructors are present to teach the skills necessary to succeed, trip participants ultimately lead their own experiences along with debriefs, solo time and conversations that will encourage them to reflect on who they are, what they are doing and where they are going in life. It is through activities like these that our patrons are reminded that it is not always necessary to traveling to Patagonia to experience adventure.

Carolina Outdoor Recreation is the optimal vehicle to assist in reconnecting with what truly matters. Go. Seek. Explore.
